"Awards are great, but they're not what drive me," said Chesney, also nominated for male vocalist and album of the year for "No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems."

If he were to win a CMA award, though, he'd like it to be entertainer of the year because "we're out there sellin' more tickets than anybody..."

The awards ceremony is set for Nov. 6.

STEVE WARINER GETS MINNIE PEARL AWARD

Steve Wariner was flabbergasted when he was honored for his charitable work with the Minnie Pearl Humanitarian Award during Opry Live last weekend.

Thinking he was on the program to perform a song in tribute to Pearl, Wariner was caught off-guard when he learned he was the Pearl award winner.

Wariner does a great deal of work for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, twice serving as an honorary chairman for Walk To Cure Diabetes, which raised $1.6 million.

He also helped raise money for various causes in public schools.
