Ne-Yo, Naya Rivera headline YouTube's 'Step Up' revival

June 30 (UPI) -- Singer Ne-Yo and Glee alum Naya Rivera are set to star in YouTube's upcoming revival of Step Up.

The street dancing film series will be turned into a 10-episode television drama that will debut this fall on YouTube's subscription streaming service, YouTube Red.

Titled Step Up: High Water, the show takes place inside Atlanta's famed High Water Performing Arts School which is led by Ne-Yo, notes The Hollywood Reporter. Rivera stars as a former dancer turned administrator who shares a history with Ne-Yo's character.

High Water will follow the story of Janelle (Lauryn McClain) and her twin brother Tal (Petrice Jones), as they are introduced to the Atlanta party scene after moving down south from Ohio. Also joining the cast is Faizon Love, Marcus Mitchell, Jade Chynoweth, Carlito Olivero, Terrence Green, R. Marcos Taylor and newcomers Eric Graise and Kendra Oyesanya.

Original Step Up stars Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan Tatum are executive producing along with producers from the film series, Adam Shankman, Jennifer Gibgot and Meredith Milton. Original songs for High Water are being written by Grammy award-winning singer/songwriter Jason "PooBear" Boyd and "Jingle" Jared Gutstadt.
