May 16 (UPI) -- General manager Kurt Angle announced a Fatal 5-Way match for Extreme Rules Monday on Raw to determine who will face Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship.

The announcement came in the wake of Braun Strowman's injury which will leave the Monster Among Men out of action for six months. Strowman had been vocal about facing Lesnar following WrestleMania.

Roman Reigns, Finn Balor, Seth Rollins, Bray Wyatt and Samoa Joe will take part in the match. The future competitors confronted each other in the ring to start the show which led to Angle booking matches between Reigns and Balor and Rollins and Wyatt.

In a battle between power and speed, Reigns -- despite still nursing some injuries -- came out on top over Balor after he prevented his opponent from landing his finishing maneuver, the Coup de Grace. Still dazed, The Big Dog landed a hard-hitting Spear for the three count.

The match between Seth Rollins and Bray Wyatt was cut short by an interfering Samoa Joe who entered the ring from the crowd in order to beat down Rollins. Disappointed in the early conclusion, Wyatt performed Sister Abigail on both Samoa Joe and Rollins to close out Raw.

Also on Raw, Dean Ambrose defended his Intercontinental Championship against The Miz in a highly-competitive bout that was also cut short after The Lunatic Fringe was disqualified for landing a kick down below on The A-Lister.

Ambrose's attack was only in retaliation after The Miz attempted to land a low-blow of his own as his wife Maryse distracted the referee from ringside. Following the result, Angle decided that Ambrose and The Miz will meet once again for the Intercontinental title at Extreme Rules.

Other moments from Monday's show included Raw Tag Team Champion Jeff Hardy defeating Sheamus, Alicia Fox defeating Sasha Banks, Raw Women's Champion Alexa Bliss attacking Bayley with a kendo stick leading to a match at Extreme Rules, Cruiserweight Champion Neville and TJP defeating Austin Aries and Gentleman Jack Gallagher, Big Cass defeating Titus O'Neil and Goldust attacking his friend and tag team partner R-Truth effectively ending their stint as The Golden Truth.
