May 16 (UPI) -- WWE's resident Monster Among Men, Braun Strowman, has injured his elbow and will miss up to six months of action.

Announced Monday, Strowman, real name Adam Scherr, underwent surgery in Birmingham, Alabama by orthopedic surgeon Dr. Jeffrey Dugas who was worked on other WWE Superstars such as John Cena and Seth Rollins.

WWE noted that Strowman injured his shoulder and shattered his elbow.

The towering grappler was last seen on Raw last week with his left arm in a sling. He competed in a brief match against Kalisto before he was ambushed by Reigns who attacked his left arm using a steel chair. The segment was used in order to write Strowman off of television.

The injury comes as Strowman has become a main event feature on Raw following WrestleMania, as he continued to feud with Reigns and partake in memorable moments including the time he destroyed the ring after performing a superplex on Big Show.
