LOS ANGELES, June 2 (UPI) -- Denise Brown is developing a true crime series more than two decades after the death of her sister, Nicole Brown Simpson.
The 58-year-old activist will partner with NBC News subsidiary Peacock Productions on an unscripted series that will "investigate cases where justice has been called into question," Peacock said in a statement.
Brown famously testified against Nicole's ex-husband, O.J. Simpson, after he was accused of murdering Nicole and Ron Goldman in 1994. The retired NFL star was acquitted of the crime the next year.
"Denise has experienced first-hand the complexities of the criminal justice system," Peacock vice president of development Melody Shafir said. "[She has] a deep understanding of the impact the system can have on the victim's family."
Brown, who alleged O.J. was abusive to Nicole during their marriage, became an activist against domestic violence after the trial. She remains president of the Nicole Brown Foundation, which she co-founded with their dad, Louis Brown.
"Peacock Productions' expertise in the true crime narrative and unscripted programming is unparalleled," Brown said. "I am excited to begin working with Peacock and tell the stories of lives that have forever been changed by the criminal justice system."
A Peacock spokesperson told the Los Angeles Times the company is in talks with "several networks" about the series. FX recently dramatized the O.J. Simpson trial in the highly-successful American Crime Story: The People vs. O.J. Simpson.
