'Doctor Who' to stream exclusively on Amazon starting May 27

SEATTLE, March 22 (UPI) -- Seasons 1-8 of Doctor Who will be exclusively available to stream on Amazon Video starting March 27.

Season 9 of the BBC science-fiction show will be available Sept. 6, with The Husbands of River Song Christmas special set to debut Sept. 25.

Steven Moffat recently announced he is stepping down as the lead writer and executive producer of Doctor Who after the next, 10th season, which will begin on the British television network in the spring of 2017.

Moffat has been the program's showrunner since 2010. He has been responsible for introducing the Eleventh and the Twelfth Doctors in Matt Smith and Peter Capaldi. Broadchurch creator Chris Chibnall will take over the series after Moffat departs.
