Nick Cannon joins 'Brooklyn Nine-Nine'

The actor will debut on the Fox series in December.

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 14 (UPI) -- Nick Cannon has landed a recurring role on Brooklyn Nine-Nine.

The 34-year-old will portray Marcus, the charming and educated nephew of Captain Raymond "Ray" Holt (Andre Braugher). Season two of the Fox comedy series debuted in September, and Cannon will first appear as Marcus in December.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine premiered in 2013, and stars Andy Samberg as Detective Jake Peralta. Peralta is a childish but talented sleuth who works alongside by-the-book Detective Amy Santiago (Melissa Fumero), nervous detective Charles Boyle (Joe Lo Truglio), mysterious Detective Rosa Diaz (Stephanie Beatriz), leader Detective Sergeant Terry Jeffords (Terry Crews) and the strict Captain Holt (Braugher).

Kyra Sedgwick, Craig Robinson, Eva Longoria and Patton Oswalt are among the other new additions to the series. Sedgwick was brought on as Captain Holt's longtime rival Deputy Chief Madeline Wuntch, while Robinson stars as the Pontiac Bandit, Longoria as a district attorney who catches Peralta's eye and Oswalt as Fire Marshall Boone.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine airs Sundays at 8:30 p.m. on Fox.
