Alexa Vega, Brette Taylor join cast of 'Nashville'

Vega will portray single mother Kiley, while Taylor will play backup singer Pam.

NASHVILLE, Aug. 13 (UPI) -- Alexa Vega and Brette Taylor have joined the cast of Nashville.

The actresses will appear in recurring roles on season three of the ABC series. Vega will portray Kiley, the first love and high school sweetheart of kind-hearted musician Gunnar (Sam Palladio), who moves to Nashville with her 10-year-old son. Taylor will play Pam, the new backup singer for country star Luke Wheeler (Will Chase), who becomes a muse for Deacon Claybourne (Charles Esten).

Nashville premiered on ABC in 2012, and follows the relationship between legendary singer Rayna Jaymes (Connie Britton) and rising star Juliette Barnes (Hayden Panettiere). The series co-stars Clare Bowen as Scarlett O'Connor, Eric Close as Teddy Conrad, Chaley Rose as Zoey and Jonathan Jackson as Avery Barkley.

Vega is best known for her role as Carmen Cortez in the Spy Kids movies, and will appear as Gilda in Sin City: A Dame to Kill For on August 22. Taylor has appeared in Laws of Attraction and FX series Rescue Me, and will portray Martha Wayne on Fox series Gotham.

Nashville season three premieres September 24 on ABC.
