'Fashion Star' canceled after two seasons

NEW YORK, July 30 (UPI) -- Jessica Simpson's U.S. reality competition series, "Fashion Star," will not return for a third season, NBC entertainment president Bob Greenblatt announced.

UsMagazine.com said Greenblatt confirmed the news during the weekend.

Low ratings were blamed for the cancellation of the show, which featured Simpson, Nicole Richie and John Varvatos as mentors to aspiring fashion designers competing to have their creations sold in Macy's, Saks Fifth Avenue and Express stores.
