'Avengers,' 'Playbook' each win 3 MTV Movie Awards

CULVER CITY, Calif., April 15 (UPI) -- The superhero ensemble picture "The Avengers" earned three MTV Movie Awards, including the top prize of Best Movie, at a ceremony in Culver City, Calif.

Starring Robert Downey Jr., Jeremy Renner, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth and Chris Evans, the blockbuster also earned the accolades for Best Fight and Best Villain for Tom Hiddleston.

The award for Best Female Performance went to Jennifer Lawrence for "Silver Linings Playbook" while co-star Bradley Cooper won for Best Male Performance. The pair also earned the Best Kiss honor.

Rebel Wilson, the awards show's host, took home the prize for Breakthrough Performance for her work in the comedy "Pitch Perfect."

Taylor Lautner picked up the statuette for Best Shirtless Performance for "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2" and Martin Freeman garnered the Best Hero gong for "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey."
