Billy Joel's daughter Alexa Ray engaged to restaurateur

Jan. 2 (UPI) -- Alexa Ray Joel is engaged to restaurateur Ryan Gleason.

The 32-year-old singer shared photos and details about Gleason's proposal in a series of Instagram posts Monday after saying "yes" while on vacation in Turks and Caicos.

"He said to me: 'Before I met you, my world was in black and white. You colored it in between the lines.' It was the most beautiful thing anybody's ever said to me. How could I possibly say no to that?!?!" Joel gushed.

"...So I was completely taken off-guard, dumbstruck, and shell-shocked- and FOR ONCE in my life, I had absolutely no words, and I couldn't speak... I just kept staring at this ridiculously exquisite ring- and he was just hysterically laughing at me!!!" she added.

Gleason, who owns Drexler's restaurant in New York, shared a picture of Joel's diamond engagement ring on his own account.

"Luckiest guy in the world!!!!" he captioned the snapshot.

Joel is the daughter of of singer Billy Joel and supermodel Christie Brinkley. Brinkley, who also shares son Jack and daughter Sailor with Peter Cook, congratulated Joel and Gleason in Instagram posts Tuesday.

"Under the largest moon on the year, my little Moonbeam got engaged, and I am over the moon with joy for these two!" the 63-year-old model captioned a photo of the couple.

"Ryan is the sweetest, kindest, hard working man who sincerely loves and adores my precious Alexa Ray so I love him too and while we have always thought of him as family soon he really will be!" she added. "What a beautiful way for our family to start the New Year.... Celebrating their LOVE!!!"

Joel last released the single "Just the Way You Are" in September 2013.
