NEW YORK, Nov. 12 (UPI) -- Missy Elliot returned Thursday with the release of her new single and music video for "WTF (Where They From)" featuring Pharrell Williams.

The video, Elliot's first in seven years, starts off with various New Yorkers singing the songs lyrics before the 44-year-old rapper dances into the scene wearing futuristic robot attire.

The rest of the video features Elliot's signature, intricate choreography along with more funky outfits and head-turning scenes such as an extended sequence in which puppet versions of Elliot and Williams begin dancing on a street corner.

Fans have been clamoring for new music from Elliot since her show-stealing performance at Super Bowl XLIX earlier this year alongside Katy Perry and Lenny Kravitz.

Elliot has yet to announce a title or release date for her long in-development album with longtime producer and collaborator Timbaland noting in 2014 that the project is "something you ain't never heard Missy do. It sounds today, but the future."
