NEW YORK, Nov. 11 (UPI) -- Pop-rock group Cobra Starship has officially called it quits following 10 years and four albums according to the band's frontman Gabe Saporta.

Saporta broke the news Tuesday in a lengthy farewell post on Facebook where he thanked fans, discussed Cobra Starship's legacy and his future as a musician.

"After many incredible years, I'm making the difficult decision to close the book on Cobra Starship, Saporta wrote on the band's official Facebook page. "If you stop reading this now, I want to say thank you if you've ever supported Cobras in any way. Whether you came to our shows and bought merch, or simply listened to a track and shared it with a friend, you allowed us to live out the most incredible adventure, and I am eternally grateful for that."

Saporta also noted how he was leaving performing behind in order to work behind-the-scenes within the business side of things.

"The truth is that there is nothing that I am more passionate about than music. And although the time has come for me to pass the baton, nothing would be as rewarding for me as the opportunity to share my wisdom and experiences with the next generation of artists," he wrote before mentioning the upcoming launch of his new website, theartistgroup.org.

In August, the band released a new single featuring Icona Pop entitled "Never Been in Love" which will remain the group's last song.

Speaking with Billboard, Saporta did mention that he was open to the idea of Cobra Starship performing again onstage.

"I'm not opposed to doing farewell shows, but for me right now, we don't want to release anything that we just had, and have it be half-[expletive]," Saporta said. "For me it's like, do it one hundred percent, or don't do it."
