CANNES, France, May 12 (UPI) -- Frequent co-stars George Clooney and Julia Roberts were all smiles Thursday in Cannes.

The 55-year-old actor and 48-year-old actress attended a photocall for Money Monster at the 2016 Cannes International Film Festival, walking the red carpet with director Jodie Foster.

Clooney wore a dark suit, but kept his outfit casual by unbuttoning the top of his shirt and stowing his sunglasses in his pocket. Roberts sported pinstriped pants and a matching vest, while Foster chose a sleeveless white dress.

The trio were joined by Caitriona Balfe, Dominic West and Jack O'Connell, who co-star in the film. The thriller centers on a TV financial expert (Clooney) and a viewer (O'Connell) who takes him hostage after losing money on a bad tip.

"Money Monster is all New York, every inch of it," Foster, a Los Angeles native, told Deadline. "I'm an urban person and I talk fast, and I like movies that are verbal, so yeah, a lot of my stories tend to happen in New York City."

"The story is so compelling; these two men who are changed by each other," she added. "It's also [about] self-loathing. Both men are filled with self-loathing; they don't understand their own value so they're looking for money to tell them that they're valuable."

Roberts changed into an off-shoulder dress to walk the red carpet with Clooney again at the movie's premiere Thursday evening. The actor was also joined by wife Amal Clooney, who wore a flowing yellow gown.

Money Monster marks Foster's fourth feature film as a director and opens in theaters Friday. Clooney and Roberts previously co-starred in Confessions of a Dangerous Mind and in Oceans Eleven and Oceans Twelve.
