ANAHEIM, Calif., Aug. 17 (UPI) -- Scarlett Johansson and Jeremy Renner will face off in the upcoming film Captain America: Civil War.

The 30-year-old actress and 44-year-old actor portray Natasha Romanoff, aka Black Widow, and Clint Barton, aka Hawkeye, respectively, in the Marvel cinematic universe. Disney shared a first glimpse of the movie at the annual D23 expo Saturday.

io9 reports the footage introduces the villain Crossbones (Frank Grillo), who taunts Steve Rogers (Chris Evans), aka Captain America, about a captured Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan), aka the Winter Soldier. Barnes is then shown haltingly recalling his memories of Rogers.

According to Variety, the preview goes on to show Captain America, Black Widow and Falcon (Anthony Mackie) take on Iron Man (Robert Downey, Jr.), Hawkeye and War Machine (Don Cheadle). Black Widow asks Hawkeye, "Are we still friends?" at one point in the fight.

The footage plays on Captain America being perceived as either a "hero" or "vigilante" for leading the opposition to the Superhuman Registration Act. Iron Man supports the law, which requires those with superhuman abilities to register as dangerous beings with the government.

Previous films, including The Avengers, showed Black Widow and Hawkeye as having a close, if complicated, relationship. Captain America: Civil War will open in theaters May 6, 2016, with Avengers: Infinity War - Part 1 to follow May 4, 2018.
