LOS ANGELES, May 7 (UPI) -- Emily VanCamp will reprise Sharon Carter in Captain America: Civil War.

In the Marvel comics, the character is the niece of Captain America love interest Peggy Carter. She becomes a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent under director Nick Fury and initially supports the Superhuman Registration Act, the polarizing bill that sparks the film's titular civil war.

Civil War will be helmed by The Winter Soldier directors Anthony and Joe Russo, and open in theaters May 6, 2016. The film features Evans, Robert Downey, Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Sebastian Stan, Elizabeth Olsen and Chadwick Boseman.

VanCamp is known for portraying Amy Abbott on The WB series Everwood and Rebecca Harper on ABC drama Brothers & Sisters. She currently stars as Emily Thorne/Amanda Clarke on ABC series Revenge, which will air its series finale May 10.
