TORONTO, April 30 (UPI) -- Will Smith was spotted with a new look on the Suicide Squad set Wednesday.

The 46-year-old actor was photographed in costume as DC Comics character Deadshot on location in Toronto. Other pictures show Smith with a completely shaved head and manicured beard for the role.

"With this character and the DC world, I love that I'm getting the opportunity for the global definition of Deadshot," the star told MTV in February. "I get to be part of the creation that will be the biggest historical image of Deadshot."

Deadshot is a frequent foe of Batman in the original comics. The character is an assassin with superhuman precision, and possesses a cybernetic eye and an acknowledged death wish. Bradley Stryker and Michael Rowe portrayed the villain on Smallville and Arrow, respectively.

Suicide Squad is directed by David Ayer, and opens in theaters August 5, 2016. The movie follows the titular antihero team as they carry out dangerous missions in exchange for commuted prison sentences, and co-stars Margot Robbie, Jared Leto and Cara Delevingne.
