Deadline reported Tuesday that Kate Horton will replace Scott Rudin as executive producer of The Music Man. Horton previously ran the Royal Court Theatre in London and held executive roles at Royal Shakespeare Company and National Theatre.

Rudin stepped back from Broadway in April after apologizing for his "troubling interactions with colleagues."

Producers announced Tuesday that the Music Man will open Dec. 20 on Broadway.

News first broke in March 2019 that Jackman will return to Broadway in a revival of The Music Man, a musical with book, music and lyrics by Meredith Wilson. The musical follows Harold Hill, a con man who poses as a band organizer.
