Joe Jonas, Sophie Turner defend Priyanka Chopra after 'disgusting' article

Dec. 5 (UPI) -- Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner are showing their support for their new sister-in-law, Priyanka Chopra, following a "disgusting" article about the former Quantico star.

The 29-year-old singer and 22-year-old actress stood up for Chopra in tweets Wednesday after a writer questioned the sincerity of the actress' marriage to Jonas' brother Nick Jonas.

"This is disgusting. @TheCut should be ashamed to have someone write such evil words. What Nick & Pri have is Beautiful Love. Thank u, Next," Jonas wrote.

"This is wildly inappropriate and totally disgusting," Turner added. "Very disappointed that The Cut would give anyone a platform to spew such [expletive]."

The Cut published an article Tuesday titled "Is Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas's Love for Real?" The since-deleted post dissects Chopra's relationship with Nick and ends by urging Nick to "gallop away" as fast as he can.

"At times, marriage can be a beautifully wonderful union that warms even the coldest of hearts, but sadly, this union evokes no such feeling," the author wrote. "All Nick wanted was a possible fling with Hollywood's latest It Woman, but instead he wound up staring straight at a life sentence with a global scam artist."

E! News said The Cut initially edited the article to remove the "scam artist" line before deleting the post completely.

"Upon further editorial review, we found this story did not meet our standards. We've removed it and apologize," a note from the editor reads.

Chopra and Nick married at a two-day celebration in Jodhpur, India, over the weekend. The couple got engaged in July after two months of dating.
