LOS ANGELES, Nov. 14 (UPI) -- Jennifer Garner was honored at the star-studded 2016 Baby2Baby gala Saturday in Los Angeles. Kate Hudson, Jessica Alba and Kristen Bell were among the celebrities to salute the 44-year-old actress' contributions to charity.

"I think involving yourself in community organizations is really vital. I think everyone should be doing more than just one, so this for me is a great cause for Los Angeles," Hudson, who was honored in 2014, told Variety.
"Jen does so much for this organization, it's so great. It's such a nice thing and she brings awareness to people getting involved," the 37-year-old actress added.
Garner received the Giving Tree Award from Baby2Baby, which provides low-income children with diapers, clothing and other necessities. The organization had announced in June that the Wakefield star would be honored.
"We are so proud to honor Jennifer Garner for her commitment to supporting low-income children," Baby2Baby presidents Kelly Sawyer Patricof and Norah Weinstein said in a statement at the time.
"She is quite possibly the biggest advocate for these issues we have ever come across," the pair added. "She has worked tirelessly for seven years to help combat children's poverty through education and leadership."
Garner said in her acceptance speech that her own mom grew up "dirt poor with 10 siblings" in Oklahoma. The actress will next star in the movie The Tribes of Palos Verdes with Maika Monroe.
