NEW YORK, Sept. 15 (UPI) -- Thanks to her rendition of the National Anthem at the 2016 Super Bowl, NFL execs are reportedly vying for Lady Gaga to take over the halftime show in 2017. According to Billboard, Gaga's patriotic performance earlier this year sent her to the top of the pack of possible acts for Super Bowl 51, which will take place in Houston on Feb. 5.

Neither the League nor Gaga have made the news official.
"We have had conversations with several fantastic artists about the Pepsi Super Bowl Halftime Show. However, at this point we do not have a final decision," an NFL rep told Billboard. "We're happy there is so much excitement about the show."
At her Aug. 13 concert in L.A., Adele told the crowd that she was approached for the gig but that she turned it down.
"First of all, I'm not doing the Super Bowl," Adele said at the show. "I mean, come on! That show is not about music. And I don't really...I can't dance or anything like that. They were very kind. They did ask me, but I did say no."
Gaga is hard at work on her next album which, the singer said, should be out "really soon." The first single from that upcoming album, "Perfect Illusion," was released on Sept. 9.
She is also starring in Season 6 of American Horror Story which premiered on FX Sept. 14. Gaga won a Golden Globe for her previous work on American Horror Story: Hotel.
