HONG KONG, May 4 (UPI) -- The Legend of Zelda is set to be reimagined as a Hong Kong crime drama by Youtube channel DaysideTv. In a teaser trailer, series protagonist Link is seen in modern day Hong Kong as a police officer putting it all on the line in order to rescue Princess Zelda from Ganon and his evil crime empire.

Shown without his signature sword and shield, Link is featured fighting off a group of thugs using his fists and speaking, unlike his muted portrayal from the best-selling video game series.
DaysideTv, known for producing live-action adaptations based on popular video games, will release the full video on Youtube Thursday.
The short comes after Nintendo announced in April that the next game in The Legend of Zelda series will launch globally alongside its new console codenamed NX in March 2017.
Nintendo has famously never pursued live-action adaptations of its properties following the release of Super Mario Bros. starring Bob Hoskins and John Leguizamo in 1993.
In March of 2015, rumors spread that streaming service Netflix would be developing a live-action Legend of Zelda series however, former Nintendo president Satoru Iwata later denied the claims.
