Amy Schumer leaves $1,000 tip for 'Hamilton' bartenders

NEW YORK, March 21 (UPI) -- Amy Schumer left a $1,000 tip recently to bartenders working a performance of Broadway hit Hamilton.

Schumer attended the show Saturday at the Rodgers Theatre in New York City along with friends and boyfriend Ben Hanisch.

The check which only totaled $77, left the bartenders "speechless" when they saw the comedian had added on an extra $1,000.

"I look at it and I'm completely, completely shocked," bar captain Sara Laursen explained to ABC7. "I was speechless and the first thing I thought in my head was, 'Are you sure?' " Laursen then reportedly split the amount with the five other bartenders who were also working that night's show.

Laursen and the other bartenders posed with the check for photo they shared on Twitter where they also thanked Schumer for her generosity. "From the bartenders @HamiltonMusical thank you @amyschumer for making our night!," she wrote.

Schumer documented her night out seeing Hamilton on Instagram sharing photos of herself with her friends and the cast of the play. "Our name is Alexander Hamilton," she wrote alongside a photo of where she was seated.

Schumer was recently featured in a new promo for the upcoming fourth season of her hit Comedy Central series, Inside Amy Schumer in which the 34-year-old is being treated for overexposure following her increased celebrity status from 2015.
