NEW YORK, Aug. 14 (UPI) -- Entertainer Wayne Brady has confirmed he is taking over the role of British drag queen Lola from Tony Award-winner Billy Porter in the Broadway musical Kinky Boots this fall.
"I'm going to do my best to take care of Lola for you baby! You know that no one does it like you do Billy!" Brady tweeted Thursday.
"YASSS! Weeerk! He is my friend AND he is ridiculously talented. The legacy lives on! Congrats," Porter replied on Twitter. "She is in good hands boo! Rock dem damn boots!! XO"
The Cyndi Lauper-Harvey Fierstein stage musical is based on the 2005 film of the same name, which was inspired by true events. The show won the Best Musical Tony in 2013. It is about a man who attempts to save his family's shoe factory by teaming up with a cabaret performer and creating a line of sexy footwear for drag queens.
