WASHINGTON, April 7 (UPI) -- Not that people need a specific day of the year to enjoy a cold pint, but today is National Beer Day, which happens to qualify as the perfect excuse to celebrate the beverage.

On April 7, 1933, President Franklin D. Roosevelt took the first step in allowing people to legally buy and sell beer for the first time since the Prohibition began 13 years prior.

To commemorate this momentous event in history, Ranker.com created a voting list of famous men and women you'd want to have a beer with. The results are in and the people chose Jennifer Lawrence and Bill Murray as their preferred drinking buddies. Emma Stone and Robert Downey Jr. came in second place. A bevy of other celebrities, including the late Robin Williams, Jessica Biel, John Goodman and Scarlett Johansson also ranked at the top of the list.
