PHOENIX, Jan. 29 (UPI) -- Katy Perry promises her half-time performance at Sunday's Super Bowl will be colorful, faces will be melted and there will be nothing deflated about it.
The Roar singer and Idina Menzel — who will sing the National Anthem prior to the game — had their own media day Thursday and didn't disappoint.
If this whole singing thing doesn't work out for Perry, she might be able to make it as a late-night talk show host; she touched on current events and brought the humor in her responses to questions from reporters.
"I don't think I'm so much of an expert on the game of football, but I can assure everyone in here, nothing in my performance will be deflated," she said, referencing accusations that the New England Patriots played with deflated footballs during the AFC Championship game.
She also poked fun at Seattle Seahawks player Marshawn Lynch, who made headlines earlier in the week for showing up to a press conference but refused to provide thoughtful answers to questions.
"I'm just here so I won't get fined," she said twice in response to a question about if she had her eye on any of the football players.
Perry said there will be surprises Sunday, from colorful, "flaming hot" costumes to a special female guest performer.
"I thought long and hard about it," she said of the guest performer. "It will be a throwback of sorts that definitely needed some more shine. All I can say is it will be a real female fun night. When this person enters the stage and you hear the first ring of a chord, I think jaws will drop and faces will melt."
Also a surprise Thursday was the appearance of Perry's dog, Butters, who ran on stage and scuttled off just as quickly after catching a glimpse of the large crowd of reporters.
