Katie Holmes buying $4 million apartment in NYC

NEW YORK, July 11 (UPI) -- Katie Holmes is buying a new apartment in New York City.

The former Dawson's Creek star is allegedly moving to a more family friendly neighborhood in the Big Apple with 8-year-old daughter, Suri.

Sources tell Us Weekly that Holmes has been eyeing a $4 million dollar apartment "in a more neighborhood-y area." While the price may seem steep, the actress turned fashion designer pays a reported $12,000 a month in her current home.

"The [new] place has three bedrooms, and she needs to do some work to it but not much," said the insider.

News of Holmes' new venture in real state comes days after she made headlines for posing topless in the August issue of Glamour magazine. During her interview with the fashion glossy, the Giver actress said that she was "really focused on motherhood and work right now."

"I didn't know how much love I had in me. It's overwhelming," she said. "Every day I discover more about this spectacular human being I get to be the mother of."
