Jason Segel and Katie Holmes deny they are dating

Segel and Holmes met in 2011 on the set of "How I Met Your Mother."

LOS ANGELES, April 10 (UPI) -- Rumors that Jason Segel and Katie Holmes are dating have proven to be untrue.

Speculation that the pair are an item began after a source reportedly told Star Magazine that the two are dating and "having a great time together."

The actors met in 2011 on the set of Segel's sitcom How I Met Your Mother. Holmes appeared as a guest star to portray the character Naomi, aka "The Slutty Pumpkin," one of Ted's (Josh Radnor) love interests.

"The story is completely untrue," Holmes' representative Leslie Sloane tells Us Weekly. "[Holmes and Segel] have not spoken since she appeared on How I Met Your Mother."
