Country singer Jack Greene dead at 83
NASHVILLE, March 15 (UPI) -- "There Goes My Everything" singer Jack Greene has died at his Nashville-area home, his family said. He was 83.
CMT News confirmed the musician's Thursday death, but did not report a cause of death.
Funeral arrangements had not been announced as of Friday.
The Tennessee native learned to play guitar when he was 8 and appeared in local talent shows before performing live on local radio while he was still in his teens, CMT said.
As an adult, Greene performed with the Cherokee Trio, the Rhythm Ranch Boys, Cecil Griffith & the Young 'Uns and the Texas Troubadours. He also enjoyed a successful solo career.
He was inducted into the Grand Ole Opry in 1967 and remained a member until his death, CMT said.
Among his hits are "All the Time," "You Are My Treasure," "I Need Somebody Bad," "Until My Dreams Come True," "Yours for the Taking," "If It's Love [Then Bet It All]" and "Statue of a Fool."
Greene and singer Jeannie Seely recorded the popular song, "Wish I Didn't Have to Miss You."
Curtis Finch Jr., first Top 10 contestant, eliminated from 'Idol'
LOS ANGELES, March 15 (UPI) -- Curtis Finch Jr. was the first Top 10 contender eliminated from "American Idol" in Season 12.
Nicki Minaj and fellow judges Randy Jackson, Keith Urban and Mariah Carey were unable to agree unanimously to use the "judges' save" option to keep Finch on the singing competition show Thursday night.
"I think we really needed an extra minute to discuss it. I don't feel like there was a real discussion about it," Minaj said. "I know it's a live show, but ... ."
Minaj briefly left the stage in protest but returned a short time later.
The last song Finch performed on the show was a crowd-pleasing version of R. Kelly's "I Believe I Can Fly."
Howard Stern says he's not interested in 'Late Night' gig
NEW YORK, March 15 (UPI) -- Radio star Howard Stern says he has no plans to take over "Late Night" in New York from host Jimmy Fallon if Fallon leaves to head up "The Tonight Show."
Rumors have circulated in recent weeks claiming NBC is making plans for Jay Leno's imminent -- but as-yet-unannounced -- retirement from "Tonight" after his current contract expires next year.
One scenario being floated in the media has Fallon replacing Leno, while Stern takes over for Fallon.
"First of all, what an insult," the Huffington Post reported Stern said on his SiriusXM radio show this week. "[After] all the years of my career. I'm, like, the biggest guy in radio. I've done film. I've done television ... I mean, they act like I'm some kind of [expletive] beginner or something. Maybe if I'm really nice to NBC, they'll let me take over Carson Daly's show at like 2 o'clock in the morning."
In addition to working on his own radio show, Stern also is a judge on NBC's talent competition series "America's Got Talent."
TV's Jillian Barberie Reynolds to divorce Grant Reynolds
LOS ANGELES, March 15 (UPI) -- Canadian television personality Jillian Barberie Reynolds says she plans to divorce actor Grant Reynolds, her husband of more than six years.
"It is with great regret that my marriage to Grant is ending after more than six years. He is a special man and we have two amazing children together," Reynolds said in a statement Friday. "This was a mutual decision that was not taken lightly and we are committed to our children and will work together to ensure their happy and healthy upbringing."
No reason was given for the split.
