LONDON, June 10 (UPI) -- Britain's Prince William and his new bride Kate attended a charity gala at Kensington Palace, marking their first public event as a married couple.
The couple wed April 28 in a lavish ceremony in London.

The Daily Telegraph said the Absolute Return for Kids dinner and auction Thursday also was the duchess of Cambridge's first public philanthropic endeavor as a member of the royal family.
Colin Firth, Liz Hurley, Jemima Khan, Tom Ford and David Furnish were among the 1,000 guests who attended the black-tie party, which raised money for disadvantaged youngsters, the Telegraph said.
Celebrity disc jockey Mark Ronson and rockers the Kings of Leon provided the musical entertainment for the evening, the newspaper said.
