NEW YORK, July 30 (UPI) -- Madonna's publicist says a widely circulated photo showing the U.S. pop star looking gaunt was taken from a bad angle, and doesn't mean she is not well.

"I just think the photographer got a bad shot of her or it was touched up to make her look bad," Liz Rosenberg told People magazine. "I saw Madonna two days before at her rehearsal and she looked amazing -- glowing skin and working really hard on her show. She may look a little thinner than usual, but she was dancing and singing better than ever and ate a nice healthy meal."

As Madonna prepares for her latest concert tour, she has been plagued by rumors that her marriage to filmmaker Guy Ritchie is on the rocks and that she ghost-wrote parts of her brother's salacious new memoir, "Life with My Sister Madonna."

Rosenberg said the much-discussed photograph doesn't show Madonna is suffering under tremendous stress.

"She's working hard rehearsing eight hours a day for her tour," Rosenberg told People, adding, "If she had anything to do with that book, it would have been better written and more eloquent. To say Madonna needs publicity is insane. Her ticket sales are amazing. And she's in a great space."
