VH1's Save the Music concert airs Sunday

NEW YORK, April 16 (UPI) -- VH1's "Save The Music: A Concert To Benefit The VH1 Save The Music Foundation" has been taped in New York City's famed Beacon Theatre.

Among the singers performing were Mariah Carey, Alicia Keys, Rod Stewart, Rob Thomas, Joss Stone, Donna Summer, John Legend, Josh Groban and Robert Randolph.

The star-studded concert, taped Monday, will air on U.S. cable's VH1 Sunday. Special appearances were made by: Heidi Klum, Gisele Bundchen, Naomi Campbell, Jermaine Dupri, Katie Holmes, David Duchovny and Christina Applegate.

The concert raises funds for the VH1 Save The Music Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to restoring instrumental music programs in U.S. public schools and raising awareness of the positive impact that music participation has on students.

Since 1997, nearly $30 million worth of musical instruments has been donated to nearly 1,200 public schools in 80 cities, impacting some 500,000 children.
