Michelle Shocked to release three new CDs

LOS ANGELES, Feb. 7 (UPI) -- Michelle Shocked will release three new albums in June, the singer-songwriter announced.

The two-time Grammy nominee will release "Don't Ask, Don't Tell," "The Memphis Minnies" and "Baby Mine."

"I never really intended to release three albums at one time," said Shocked. "But I do tend to think in concepts of trilogies, tryptichs, trios. It seems like a complete cycle to me."

"Don't Ask, Don't Tell" is a rock album, produced by Dusty Wakeman, who has produced for Dwight Yoakam.

"The Memphis Minnies" -- inspired by the '30s and '40s country-blues music of Memphis Minnie -- features appearances by Rickie Lee Jones, Lucinda Williams, Victoria Williams and Nancy Wilson of Heart. It was produced by Mark Howard, who has produced records for Williams and Bob Dylan.

"Baby Mine" is a Western swing take on Disney music, produced by Nick Forster.

Shocked said she plans to release three more albums right after the new June releases -- including gospel-electronica, Latin-blues and New Orleans style jazz music.

"You can't stop creative momentum," she said. "When it hits, you gotta roll with it"
