LONDON, Jan. 2 (UPI) -- British singers Cliff Richard and Boy George are among entertainers recording a song to raise funds for victims of the Asian tsunami.
They hope the song, entitled "Grief Never Grows Old," will raise nearly $4 million for the relief effort, the BBC reported Sunday. Written by radio personality Mike Read, the song is a ballad that will be performed by the stars under the name One World Project.
"I was totally shocked at the enormity and suddenness of the disaster and in tears on seeing the orphaned children wandering aimlessly in search of their parents," said Read.
All the funds raised by the record will go to the Disasters Emergency Committee, he said.
Others being approached include Robin and Barry Gibb of The Bee Gees, jazz musician Jamie Cullum, Chris Rea and Olivia Newton-John. Richard and Boy George have already recorded their vocal parts.
Organizers hope the song can be finished within the next week on retail shelves as soon as possible.
