LONDON, Nov. 17 (UPI) -- The Who are working toward recording a new album, the British group's first studio release in 20 years, Pollstar reported Thursday.
A recent post by guitarist Pete Townshend on his official Web site said he and singer Roger Daltrey are planning to start going over material next month.
"WHO2 will not be a concept album, that is, in itself, a concept for me," Townshend said in the post. "Roger and I meet in mid-December to play what we have written. If we move ahead from there, we may have a CD ready to release in the spring."
The band, whose last studio album was "It's Hard" in 1982, broke up the following year but have made several reunion tours including this year's in the United States, Japan and Australia.
The Who's other founding members, drummer Keith Moon and bassist John Entwistle, died in 1978 and 2002, respectively.
