S&K Aerospace receives $559M contract for Saudi Arabian F-15s

Sept. 25 (UPI) -- S&K Aerospace has been awarded a $559 million contract for supply, maintenance and facility services for the Royal Saudi Air Force's F-15 fighter fleet, the Department of Defense announced on Friday.

The contract provides for consumables, parts and maintenance of print on demand parts facilities for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's F-15 program, including all F-15 C/D/S/SA fleets.

The work will be completed in Saudi Arabia and is expected to run through March 31, 2023. The contract falls under foreign military sales to the KSA.

The F-15 Eagle is a single-seat all-weather air superiority tactical fighter jet used by the U.S. Air Force and many allied nations. It is highly maneuverable and is capable of reaching speeds more than twice the speed of sound. It's first flight was in 1972 and the first active aircraft were delivered to the U.S. Air Force in 1979.

The F-15 has been upgraded many times and has been developed into several variants, including the two-seat F-15E Strike Eagle designed for both air-to-air and air-to-ground missions.

The F-15 is one of the primary fighter aircraft of the Royal Saudi Air Force. The F-15SA variant of the plane currently being delivered to Saudi Arabia is considered the most advanced version of the F-15 produced so far.

The fighter has upgraded avionics, electronics warfare systems and a greater payload, and over 150 F-15 SA's are expected to be delivered over the next several years.
