Other cutting-edge technologies on display include unmanned boats, cars and tanks and small remote-control operated aircraft. Conference officials said the event runs through Friday.

Conference participants will be able glimpse the "future battleground" as visualized by the Israeli Defense Ministry's Research and Development and technology departments.

Among the Israeli technologies to be displayed at the AUVSI conference, one that will attract great interest is Sky Sapience's tethered hovering platform especially designed for small vehicles, the HoverMast.

The HoverMast meets the need for quick, mobile intelligence gathering, the company said. After being activated, the system autonomously deploys up to 164 feet within 15 seconds.

Secured by a cable, which provides both power and a wideband data link, the highly stabilized HoverMast can payloads such as electro-optic sensors, laser designators, radar and sophisticated COMINT and ELINT systems, while its data link enables the transfer of critical information to selected recipients in real time.
