Hover intel platform makes debut

YOKNEAM, Israel, Feb. 24 (UPI) -- A tethered hover platform deployed from small vehicles for gathering intelligence has been introduced by Israel's Sky Sapience.

Called HoverMast, the system deploys with a click of a button and rises to a height of 50 yards in 15 seconds or less, the company said.

Its cable, in addition to securing the platform, supplies power to the platforms' electronic payload and wideband data link.

HoverMast is carried in a compact housing unit that can be mounted on any vehicle. It weighs 10 pounds and can carry a 9-pound payload.

The system is particularly well-suited for use in urban military and law enforcement missions as well as for Special Forces, border and port protection and infantry missions.

"Sky Sapience was chosen by MAFAT, the (Israel's Ministry of Defense's) research and development agency, as its sole developer of tethered platform technologies," said Brig. Gen. (Res.) Gabriel Shachor, chief executive officer and founder of Sky Sapience. "As such, we are confident that the HoverMast will prove invaluable to both military and civilian forces, vastly improving their observation and intelligence capabilities."
