Army contracts for Stryker logistics

STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich., Feb. 10 (UPI) -- General Dynamics has been selected to provide the U.S. Army's fleet of Stryker combat vehicles around the world with logistics support services.

U.S. company General Dynamics says its Land Systems unit was awarded the contract from the Army Tank-automotive and Armaments Command. Under the $253 million deal, General Dynamics will provide Stryker vehicle upgrades and other logistics support.

Officials say the contract will provide the Army Stryker Brigade Combat Teams with ongoing logistics services from General Dynamic employees in five states and in Afghanistan, Iraq and Kuwait among other locations.

According to a news release the logistics and reset support will include "ordering spare parts, managing a spare-parts warehouse, worldwide distribution of repair parts and completing maintenance services on the Stryker vehicle fleet."
