Unisys to provide IT support for DISA

BLUE BELL, Pa., Feb. 4 (UPI) -- Unisys has received a contract extension from the U.S. Defense Information Systems Agency to continue providing information technology and upgrade services.

U.S. company Unisys says the DISA contract is from the Defense Information Technology Contracting Organization. Under the estimated $187 million deal, Unisys will continue to provide support for its ClearPath Dorado 700 mainframe technology deployed by DISA.

Unisys' ClearPath provides continuous availability for computing tasks requiring high security among other transaction processing computer requirements. As part of the contract Unisys will continue to provide IT support along with upgrade services and other support.

"This contract represents an extension of a longstanding relationship between Unisys, DISA and DISA clients such as the Air Force," Jim Geiger, Unisys Federal Systems Department of Defense managing partner, said in a statement.

"Our relationship with the Air Force began in 1983, and this contract will continue to support the service's logistics and other applications. Unisys will continue to support these critical applications to help our Defense Department clients achieve their missions."
