NEW YORK, May 12 (UPI) -- New York-based Organic Motion announced the launch of a new computer-vision technology designed to support military simulation and training.

Organic Motion, a developer of computer-vision and motion-capture technologies, has unveiled its OpenStage computer-vision platform. OpenStage is a next-generation military training technology that enables the creation of new interactive virtual simulations.

According to a news release, OpenStage does not require special suits or tracking devices for training simulations that company officials say create virtual environments in a real-time platform.

"A squad can instantly transition from real world to any simulated training environment," Andrew Tschesnok, Organic Motion chief executive, said in a statement.

"By completely eliminating attached devices, we enable a more realistic virtual experience while removing costly preparation and technician time. Our platform also generates superior biomechanical and biometric tracking capabilities, which quantify soldiers for extensive analysis for exact training feedback."
