LOS ANGELES, March 20 (UPI) -- Raytheon has added EADS Secure Networks North America to a team working on a bid for a major public-safety communications system contract in Los Angeles.
U.S. company Raytheon announced it has reached an deal with EADS, a mobile-radio-communications solutions developer, for the company to join a team that includes Etherstack and Powerwave Technologies and that is pursuing the Los Angeles Regional Interoperable Communications System contract.
Officials said the Raytheon-led team is working on a proposal for the contract that will provide Los Angeles-area first responders an advanced communications technology to support emergency-response operations in the event of a crisis situation.
"The Los Angeles region represents a complex challenge as numerous public-safety agencies join to improve response efforts and safety for the area," Jerry Powlen, Raytheon Network Centric Systems vice president of integrated communications systems, said in a statement.
"Raytheon's integration experience, our combined open-standards technology solutions and established market presence uniquely position our team to provide an effective integrated system to support the customer."
