FPED VII has counter-terrorism theme

WASHINGTON, Dec. 31 (UPI) -- Organizers for the biannual Force Protection Equipment Demonstration conference held in Virginia have opened online registration availability.

The 2009 Force Protection Equipment Demonstration, or FPED VII, is expected to draw approximately 600 vendors to Virginia's Stafford County Regional Airport and the Marine Corps Base in Quantico, Va., demonstrating the latest technologies and equipment designed to protect troops, emergency response authorities and military installations.

FPED VII, sponsored by the U.S. Defense Department Physical Security Equipment Action Group and Homeland Security Department, among other federal agencies, is scheduled for May and has a theme of "impacting the global war on terror."

"The largest force protection event of its kind in the world, it will feature … items of equipment designed to reduce vulnerabilities to terrorism, including improvised explosive devices, (with) demonstrations to enhance the overall security of United States and allied interests," the release said.
