Harris providing precision approach radars to U.S. military

The U.S. Naval Air Systems Command has contracted Harris Corporation to supply precision approach radars to enhance air traffic management.

MELBOURNE, Fla., May 18 (UPI) -- Precision approach radars for U.S. military air traffic control are to be supplied by Harris Corporation under an eight-year U.S. Navy contract.

The award from Naval Air Systems Command is an indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity vehicle with a ceiling value of $96 million.

"This blend of cutting-edge technology and dependable performance makes Harris the leading supplier of PAR systems to U.S. and international military customers."

Harris said the precision approach radars will be for all three military services to help upgrade their precision approach and military air traffic management capabilities.

Additional contract details were not provided.
