CAE supplies flight simulators to UAE, China

MONTREAL, July 16 (UPI) -- Canadian simulation company CAE has been contracted to supply full-flight simulators and flight training devices to customers in the Middle East and Asia.

The contracts, worth a combined total of $221million, are for nine full-flight simulators and an equal number of training devices.

The customers are Etihad Airways, the national carrier of the United Arab Emirates and China Eastern Airlines.

"We are happy to continue growing our relationships with Etihad Airways and China Eastern, two of the fastest growing airlines of the world," said Nick Leontidis, CAE's group president, Civil Simulation Products, Training and Services. "We are proud to be selected as Etihad's exclusive training solutions partner and to provide China Eastern with additional state-of-the-art training devices.

"These contracts allow us to support both airlines with their growing need for well-trained pilots."

CAE is providing Etihad with seven full-flight simulators, seven flight training devices, update services and an exclusive 10-year agreement for training equipment and services.

The full-flight simulators are for Boeing and Airbus aircraft.

China Eastern will receive two full-flight simulators for the Boeing 737-800 and two CAE Simfinity Integrated Procedures Trainers and updates to the airline's existing Airbus A330 and A320 aircraft simulators.
