Ship protection systems ordered by Israel

GIVAT SHMUEL, Israel, Nov. 12 (UPI) -- Portable diver detection sonar systems for the protection of naval vessels have been ordered from Israel's DSIT Solutions Ltd. by an unidentified customer.

The systems to be supplied by DSIT are the PointShield Portable Diver Detection Sonar systems for protection of vessels at homeports and remote points of berth.

"Ships ... are quite vulnerable when at anchor and the best way to protect them from the threat of underwater attack and sabotage is by equipping them with effective portable underwater intruder detection devices," said Dan Ben-Dov, DSIT's vice president of Sales and Marketing.

"Providing long-range detection and fully automatic classification without the need for a trained human operator, DSIT's PointShield is perfectly designed for this purpose."

Six systems were ordered by "a defense integrator" on behalf of an unidentified navy, DSIT said. The customer, however, has ordered company products in the past.

"DSIT has been increasing both personnel and manufacturing capabilities to meet the growing number of orders that have been received for our underwater security systems," said DSIT Chief Executive Officer Benny Sela. "We also view with much satisfaction the fact that we are receiving repeat orders from our customers, a fact which indicates their satisfaction and trust in DSIT's Shield family of diver detection sonar systems."
