DSIT underwater security system ordered

GIVAT SHMUEL, Israel, Dec. 9 (UPI) -- Israel's DSIT Solutions Ltd says it has received a $12.3 million from an Asia customer for underwater security systems.

The systems -- AquaShield Diver Detection Sonar and PointShield Portable Diver Detection Sonar systems -- will be used to help offshore oil platforms, coastal energy terminals and ships guard against intrusion and sabotage.

"As far as we know this is the largest contract for underwater security systems to be ordered by the oil and gas industry," said Dan Ben-Dov, DSIT vice president for Sales and Marketing. "This sale firmly establishes DSIT as the world leader in the field of underwater security systems for the energy sector.

"DSIT pioneered this market in 2007 with the sale of its AquaShield Diver Detection Sonar to a leading European Oil Terminal. Since then we have accumulated vast experience in testing and operating our underwater surveillance solutions in many energy sites around the world, including nuclear power facilities."

The contract is worth $12.3 million. Initial delivery will begin immediately and continue through 2012.

DSIT didn't reveal the identity of the customer.

DSIT said its AquaShield DDS provides long-range, fully automatic threat detection and advanced classification algorithms for identification of threats and is used around the world to protect ports, navy bases and energy installations.

The company is a subsidiary of Acorn Energy Inc. of the United States.
