Sierra Nevada opens Alabama office

SPARKS, Nev., May 17 (UPI) -- U.S. electronic systems provider and integrator, the Sierra Nevada Corp., reports it has opened an office in Alabama.

Three key business sector units -- Communications, Navigation, Surveillance/Air Traffic Management; Integrated Mission Systems; and Space Systems -- will be at the facility to better serve customers in the area.

Among the customers are the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, the U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Command, the U.S. Missile Defense Agency, the Space and Missile Defense Command and related corporate partners.

The company said the new office will tap local vendors as it grows its business in the area.

The initial workforce at the Huntsville office will be 7-10 people, it added. Additional details of its operations weren't disclosed.

The Sierra Nevada Corp. has headquarters in Nevada. It is privately owned and a leading woman-owned federal contractor. It was established in 1963 and operates from 32 locations in 16 states.
