SAN FRANCISCO, May 10 (UPI) -- New inexpensive sensors for detecting dangerous chemicals and radiation in buildings have been launched by Building Protection Systems Inc. of California.
The detectors -- four models in all -- continuously monitor the air circulating within a facility. They can detect more than 38 toxic chemicals and 120 radiological isotopes. Once a danger is detected and analyzed, they automatically activate the predetermined mitigation protocol to isolate the dangerous substance.

BPSI said the design of its sensors allow them to be plugged directly into a building's HVAC system.
