Air Force contract for JBT AeroTech

CHICAGO, April 2 (UPI) -- The U.S. Air Force has given JBT AeroTech an engineering support and materials management contract for support of company equipment used by the service.

The contract specifically covers Halvorsen 25K loaders, which are used for the loading and unloading of palletized cargo.

JBT Corp., parent company of JBT AeroTech, said the contract is worth more than $7 million and continues until March 2013.

"We are very proud to continue providing the U.S. Air Force with mission critical engineering and logistics support for their worldwide Halvorsen fleet," said John Lee, vice president and division manager, JBT AeroTech.

The Halvorsen 25K can transport and lift as much as 25,000 pounds of cargo, with its deck elevating to more than 18 feet. It can travel up to 17 miles per hour. The vehicle came into service in 2001, and since then the company has delivered nearly 500 units to the U.S. military and international allies.
